TPMS aka Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is a system that monitors tyre pressures and alerts you when it changes. VAG group has two different systems: direct and indirect. With direct TPMS you need sensors to your wheels, with indirect monitoring is done from ABS wheel sensors.
With direct TPMS you need one sensor (integrated to valve) to each wheel and a module.
Good thing is that you can check every tyre pressure in MFA. Bad thing is that you need sensors to wheels. And when you want to use this system with winter tires, then you need extra.
Indirect TPMS works together with ABS wheel sensors. System measures wheel spinning speed and when pressure changes then speed changes.
Reseting is done via MFA or button in center console.
Good thing is that system does not need special module nor sensors and will work with all wheels/tires.
Bad thing is that you don’t see exact pressure and you don’t see what tyre has different pressure.
